Father John Baptist Moon Hee Jong was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Suwon on July 23, 2015.
He was pastor and director of the diocesan department for evangelization and professor of the Major Seminary at the time of appointment.
Bishop Jong was born on August 26, 1966, in Gyeonggi-do in Suwon diocese. He studied at the Major Seminary in Suwon. He completed his philosophical studies during 1984-1988 and theology studies during1991-1993. Between 1988 and 1991, he also finished his military service. He was ordained a priest on Jan. 21, 1994.
From 1994 to 1997 he was assistant priest in three parishes, and became pastor of Paengsung in 1997, which he continued for two years.
He served as spiritual director of the Catholic University of Suwon (seminary) 1999-2001 and then left for a five-year long studies at the Pontifical University of St. Anselm in Rome, where he obtained his licentiate in liturgy.
