Bishop Paul Alois Lakra was born on July 10, 1955, in Naditoly, Jharkhand state. He was ordained priest on May 6, 1988 and was appointed Bishop of Gumla on Jan. 28, 2006. Bishop Lakra was ordained on April 5, 2006.

Bishop Paul Alois Lakra of Gumla died of Covid-19 on June 15, 2021.
