Bishop Jose Mukalawas born on Aug. 18, 1948, in Kaveekunnu, Kerala, south India. On April 10, 1978, he was ordained a priest. Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Kohima on Oct. 24, 1997. He was ordained bishop on March 15, 1998. On October 30, 2009, he resigned.
