Bishop Angelus Kujur, S.J., was born on July 14, 1946, at Mundaltoli, Simdega diocese, Jharkhand state. He was ordained priest on April 13, 1980, in Dumka, Jharkhand. He was appointed as bishop of Purnea on Jan. 20, 2007. Bishop Kujur’s episcopal ordination was on April 18, 2007. His previous appointments were: master of novices at Jesu Jaher, Dumka. from 1986-89 and 1996 -99. He was the provincial of Dumka and Raiganj provinces from 1989-95. From 2001-07, he was the superior and director of spirituality center Jeevan Dhara, Raiganj.

On 8 Dec 2021, Bishop Angelus Kujur retired.
