Society of St. Francis Xavier Bishop Aleixo das Neves Dias, S.F.X. was born on Aug. 5, 1944 in Calangute in Goa archdiocese. He was ordained a priest on Dec. 21, 1969 in the congregation of Society of St. Francis Xavier, Pilar, Goa. Pope John Paul II appointed him the first Bishop of Port Blair on June 22, 1984. He was ordained on Jan. 20, 1985. Before becoming the prelate, Bishop Dias was the rector of a major seminary in Goa.
On 6 Jan 2019 he Retired.
