Nakhon Ratchasima diocese was created on Dec. 18, 1965, and covers an area of 41,148 square kilometres. It comprises the three northeastern provinces of Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram and Chaiyaphum which have a combined population of about 5.2 million people. Among them, 5,721 or 0.11 percent of the total population are Catholics. The diocese, a suffragan of Tharae-Nongsaeng archdiocese, is divided into 31 parishes. The diocese is regarded as the gateway to the northeastern provinces and is linked by railways and superhighways to Bangkok.
