Bishop Thomas Pulloppillil was born on July 14, 1954, in Kothamangalam diocese, in the southern state of Kerala. He was ordained priest on April 6, 1981. He taught and served the theological college in Shillong in the northeastern state of Meghalaya before being appointed to head Bongaigaon diocese on May 10, 2000. He was ordained bishop of Bongaigaon on August 20 that year. Bishop Pullopillil chairs the Seminary Formation Commission of the North East Bishops' Council.
