Rev. Jose Pulickal was appointed the bishop of Kanjirapally by Pope Francis on Jan. 15, 2020.

He had earlier been serving as the auxiliary bishop of the same diocese.

Bishop Jose Pulickal was born in Inchiyani, near Mundakkayam, on March 3, 1964. He pursued his priestly studies at the minor seminary of Mary Matha and later joined St. Thomas Apostolic Seminary, Vadavathoor and was ordained priest on Jan. 1, 1991.

He continued his priestly studies to obtain a master’s degree in biblical theology from St. Peter’s Institute, Bengaluru. He also served as vicar of Kanjirapally cathedral and the director of Snehashram Jesus Fraternity.

He has also served as vicar of Pathanamthitta forane and diocesan consultor.
