Bishop Ivan Pereira was born on June 1, 1964, in Vasai diocese of Maharashtra. He was ordained priest in 1993 for Jammu-Srinagar diocese.

He served as the rector of the St. Paul’s Minor Seminary in Jammu from 2000-2003 and the vicar general and secretary of the Jammu-Srinagar bishop from 2004-2009.

He was the parish priest of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Bishnah from 2009-2012. Since 2012, he has been serving as the principal of the Burn Hall Higher Secondary School in Srinagar.

Pope Francis on Dec. 3, 2014, appointed Father Ivan Pereira as the new bishop of the Jammu-Srinagar diocese.

Bishop Ivan Pereira succeeded Bishop Peter Celestine, who resigned after reaching the retirement age of 75.
