Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Thomas Paulsamy as new bishop of Dindigul, while making the diocese a suffragan of Madurai metropolitan archdiocese.

This ecclesiastical provision was made public in Rome on April 11, 2016.

Bishop Paulsamy was born in N. Poolampatty in the diocese of Tiruchirapalli on Aug. 2, 1951. He completed his philosophical and theological studies at St. Paul’s Seminary in Tiruchirapalli, and was ordained priest on May 25, 1977, for the diocese of Tiruchirapalli.
