Bishop Stephen Lepcha was born on Dec. 22, 1952, at Suruk, Darjeeling diocese. He was ordained priest on Dec. 15, 1982, and was appointed bishop of Darjeeling on Nov. 4, 1997. His episcopal ordination was on Dec. 8, 1997. He has also held the post of director of the diocesan minor seminary.
