Bishop Mar Peter Kochupurackal was appointed as the new bishop of the Eparchy of Palghat on Jan 15, 2022.

Mar Kochupurackal was born in 1964 at Marangoly, Pala, in Kerala state and did his priestly studies at St Joseph’s Pontifical Seminary, Aluva. He has secured a doctoral degree in canon law from the Oriental Institute in Rome and became auxiliary bishop of Palghat on Jan 15, 2020, and was consecrated on June 18, 2020. His appointment is following the retirement of the present Bishop Mar Jacob Manathodath.

He has also served as judicial vicar of eparchial tribunal and chancellor of eparchy of Palghat.
