Bishop Devprasad Ganawa, SVD, was born on Dec. 8, 1951, in Panchkui parish of Jhabua diocese.

He joined St. Thomas Seminary at Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, in 1965 and professed his first vows at Catholic Ashram Khurda, Madhya Pradesh, in 1974. He had his philosophical and theological studies at Jnana Deepa Vidyapeeth in Pune, Maharashtra, and was ordained priest on Oct. 27, 1982. He completed B.A. and M.A. at Government Arts and Commerce College in Indore. He worked as assistant parish priest at the Cathedral in Khandwa from 1982 to 1984. Thereafter, he was assistant parish priest at Khargone from 1984 to 1986. He was appointed as assistant rector at St. Thomas Seminary for a year and then he was the rector of Catholic Ashram Juniorate at Palda from 1992 to 1995. He worked as a parish priest at Ranapur from 1995 to 2001 thereafter he was the director of Maitri Sadan in Udaipur from 2001 to 2008. He was a provincial councilor and diocesan councilor. He was appointed the parish priest of Meghnagar parish in 2008. He was appointed the bishop of Jhabua diocese by Pope Benedict XVI on May 11, 2009. His episcopal ordination was on June 16, 2009. He was appointed bishop of Udaipur on Dec. 21, 2012, when Bishop Joseph Pathalil retired from his pastoral work.
