Bishop Francis Anthonysamy was born on April 15, 1946, in Illupur in Thanjavur diocese. He was ordained priest on Aug. 2, 1974. He was appointed bishop on May 31, 2008, and was installed on July 9, 2008. Before becoming bishop, he was parish priest of Our Lady of Velankanni Basilica in Thanjavur diocese.
