Bishop Paul Mar Alppatt was born on April 21, 1962, in Porathur at Trichur in Kerala state. He was ordained priest on Dec. 27, 1987, and was appointed bishop of Ramanathapuram on Jan. 18, 2010.
His episcopal ordination was on April 11. He has served the archdiocese as assistant vicar, Mattom (1988), vicar Pudussery and Parannur (1989), Rector of St. Mary’s Minor Seminary (2007-2010) and Judge of major archiepiscopal tribunal (2007-2010).
